Around the NHL tonight

Tonight, since it was opening for a lot of teams, the hockey world is buzzing, and that buzz is one of the weird. Looking around:

Dan Hinote scores the first goal of the season for the St. Louis Blues. And, just :36 seconds into the first period. Nice one, Danny!!! Then he gets an assist 3 minutes later. Is he trying to tell us something?

The Predators lost big to the Blackhawks. 8-6? What the hell is that? Both goaltenders sucked.

Brendan Shanahan got his 600th goal tonight. Gerber lets in 5 goals in 24 shots. Forsberg got off 0 shots on goal tonight. First game. Go figure.

Rick Dipietro is pulled for Mike Dunham after 40 minutes, against the Coyotes. You can imagine what the the stories are going to be tomorrow.

The Leafs get revenge. In a big way. Raycroft gets the shutout. Is this what the Leafs season is going to be like?

Also, I shouldn't have to look at ESPN for a boxscore. The new NHL.com needs to have the bugs worked out.

There you have it. I'm too tired to stay up for the final of the Blues - Sharks tilt. See you tomorrow

I hope that is how the Leafs play this season! That was a thorough ass kicking! Love it!

I hate it when goalies that don't deserve shutouts get shutouts because it just inflates their stats.

No, not bitter at all.

Billrob - According ro Altitude, it's about the schedule. The Avs want to use Theodore on Sunday vs the Canucks. After that, they have a week off, not playing until Saturday, October 14th. If they hadn't played Budaj, he wouldn't have played a game for 2 weeks. Better to use him now. I'm guessing his next game will be the 16th against Balckhawks.

All in all, he looked pretty solid. More solid than Theodore the previous night. Of course, the Avs flew after the game Wednesday, getting in to Minnesota around 3:00 am.

I thought of this in class in honour of Theodore when I should have been paying attention in Statistics class and was so proud:

"Get Immunized before you get Hiltonized!"

Don't many fans predict the apocalypse when the Leafs win the cup (in certain circles of course)? In that case maybe global warming really is a serious issue.
